YMP Mission Statement

A few years ago, the York County Black Golfers Association (YCBGA) realized minority youth participation in the game of golf was severely lacking in our community – this was made even more apparent by the dissolution of the York High School golf team. It was decided by the Membership that we should dedicate ourselves to becoming a nonprofit group that would reach out to our community to help promote the game of golf to the Greater York area youth.  Thus, the YCBGA Youth Mentoring Program was created to serve this purpose and our community.  Our goal is to promote community leadership, educational focus, social networking, and expand recreational interests among York’s youth through the introduction to the game of golf.  Upon completion of the Youth Mentoring Program participants will be equipped with the basic tools to help them continue to set and achieve their personal goals, have a renewed focus on the benefits of education, and clearly understand what it means to be a Leader/Role Model within their school, community, and home.
